Default 1988 trailboss rebuild.. what all should be replaced?

All rightie.. today I started the "project"

That is a complete re-do of my 88 250 trailboss.... I have almost everything off the frame.. and will be taking it to powder coating this week.

All brackets are in great shape.... I plan on replacing all bearings in the motor and checking tranny for any problems...

what else should a guy do since he has it completely torn down??

Now is the time to do it!!

thanks!

I am for sure putting a new muffler and pipes on the thing.. what do you recommend that will work well for me and not cost me my first born?

thanks!

Check the clutch covers for warpage. If warped get new ones. Get new motor mounts. Make sure clutches are in good shape. Replace swing arm bushings. Check your axle bearings and seals, reaplce as needed. Make sure the axle is true. New chain and sprockets. Replace tie rod ends and stearing post bushings if needed. Replace bad cables now as well. Look the wiring harness over real well. Get real friendly with your local dealer. Keep us posted.

i'm assuming when you say new motor mounts your referring to the small piece of (look like angle iron) that first bolts to motor then bolts to frame, correct?

You should have little rubber mounts between your motor and the frame. Those need to be replaced now and then to keep the motor square in the frame under a load.
