I finally had the time to look at my leaking rear brake caliper. Seems I need some new pads in the rear(which means the fronts will be bad as well). The footbrake caliper pads were bad,but the hand brakes were..gone. Off to the dealer, who, of course, had none in stock. The good news was the price. The retail price in the A.C. accessories catalog says $23 per pair. My dealer wants only $12.50 per pair. Anyone know of an aftermarket maker for pads. There are some better than factory pads out there but I was unable to find any listed for the Cat.

Thats a good price-- my dealer wants 75+ tax for a set($24.95 each).

EBC makes brake pads for Cats, but your price is cheaper than EBC.

How many miles do you have on your cat?

Mikeslaby:
I thought you sold your 'Cat? If I remember right, you had a HL performance kit, then removed it and sold it? If this is true, if I may ask, why did you get rid of the performance kit? Was it not as good as it is made out to be, or was it causing damage to the machine? Just curious about it's actual power potential, and if it's enough to make up for larger tires.

I'll answer all three at one time.I have 950 miles on my Cat. I fully intended to sell the machine after I took the Performance kit off. The kit works great. It is worth the cost. I was getting mud and water in my belt and clutch so I was going to sell the AutoCat and buy a Rubicon or a manual Cat. The Honda was,to me,very underwelming. Nice machine, but it was NOT worth seven grand. That left the Manual Cat. I decided to give my auto one last chance , so I re-snorkled the belt housing, resealed everything I could think of. So far so good as I have had no more problems in this area. I do not have the part numbers for the Brake pads since he had to order them, but they are AC factory replacements from the dealer. After I posted the original message I found a catalog that has what I was looking for. Shadetree sells aftermarket pads for $19.95 per pair. They list several brands but are not specific as to the make of the Cat parts.

Mike:
Thanks for the info, glad to hear the auto is still working OK for you. Do you wish you would have kept the kit now, or are you happy you sold it? Hope it continues to work ok for you.

I do wish I still had the kit installed cause it was a noticable improvement on the trails. I still have the K&N filter as well as the jet kit,my buddy was gonna buy the jet kit from me but changed his mind so i am rejetting the cat this weekend. I took the pipe off due to the extra noise. Though I like the sound. Our extensive trail systems here are under attack by the anti's and their latest tactic is "noise pollution". One trail system has already made it illegal to ride with aftermarket pipes. So It was a nice power gain but in the end not worth the potential aggravation it could cause.

I think the brake pads in Shadetree are EBC, I called and was going to order some myself last week and they were out of stock. Went to the AC dealer and the pads are $12.95 EACH for factory replacements. The factory replacements are Wilwood brand, same as the brakes on mine. I had on 800 miles on mine, should have been changed about 600 miles becuase they were gone, back pads were wore through to the piston... Bad deal!

Hey Everyone,

Check out this site for Cat aftermarket pads.
www.boxbrakes.com

The guys' name is Gary Box. I spoke with him a couple weeks ago. Last week he just completed a small production run for AC and Polaris. I believe he quoted me $35 + s/h.

I'm going to be ordering some for our Cats. We do mostly sandy creek & riverbank riding and our pads wear out quickly. They people I've spoke with who have tried them are very pleased with them.
