1.You might try a bigger allen wrench and peck it in with a hammer and try that. The pecking of the hammer might also help loosen it up.
2. I'm not for sure on the 500 but the 700 should be 25-34 psi at 5500 rpm's when the engine is hot.
3. Mine stays around 185-195 and the fan comes on at 196.

i believe my temp was around 200-210 today, that sound rite for a 500 anybody??
ANYONE got any idea how to get that allen head screw out if it is almost striped instead of the pecking of the hammer????
thanks for the answer sportsman70003....

It is funny that this topic should come up today. I just changed my oil this afternoon and I too stripped the oil plug. You won't believe what I found...
The darn thing is a metric allen. I know, I know, everything else on the bike is SAE, but I'm telling you as God as my witness, the metric allen wrench is the one that fit. I even bought a brand new plug from my dealer and it is a metric oil plug. GO FIGURE!
Anyway, good luck.

it is running like it has been running for the last 2 years i believe, the temp gauge says at 200 and the fan kicks on several times, i hear it when i am idleing, seems to be working fine, i think.. what do i need to do to check this?? it has the rite amount of coolant in it.
also, i need to make sure i am trying to get the rite plug out for my oil gauge line...
on my 500, looking at it from the leftside at the temp sensing plug, to the left about 3 inches, the plug is located at a slant on the bottom side of the block...that the rite one?

Sportsman70003 said it! On a Polaris most everything is SAE.
So I wonder why the metric on the oil plug? Probably so you strip the first one out and the dealers can suck another $6.00 out of ya. LOL
Oh well, now I know.
