The best carbs made. It takes a little to get them tuned at first, but day to day tuning as the weather changes is simple. Mr. Horsepower can get you a set.

If you are having a mid range stumble it (may )be your needle position but what you should do to remedy it as far as what position will take experimentation on your part.I asked about your carbs to let you know that you can get very good performance with the stock carbs if you spend the time necessary to get them dialed in to your conditions such as altitude, temperature and fuel choice(octane).I have a 12.5:1 compression level on my 690 and i run stock carbs with 175-180 mikuni mains with stock needle jet settings and stock pilot jet and 3 turns out on my air fuel screws.I have learned a lot in the last couple of years from this forum about carbs and getting them dialed in and one of the most important things to remember is jet for your conditions and take your fuel into consideration as well.As you will find through researching this subject using too high of an octane level for your compression can (greatly)decrease your performance as well as having the wrong jetting. If you give the altitude you ride at and list your compression level you will probably get some responses from those who are more skilled in the art of proper carb tuning but i have at least layed out the basics to get you going in the right direction.I have mentioned the octane issue more than once to try and get the point across that it is much more important than most people realize. These are of course just my opinions but i do ride many weekends out of the year and my experiences are real world on my 690 which is at least similar yo your quad so most of this information should apply.
