Default Raptor Hot Cams and Compression

Okay, I know a lot about this kind of stuff, but I need some opinions and help. I'm workin on the ole Raptor again and I'm trying to decide whether or not I should put in a stage 1 or stage 2 hotcam. And does it really help that much. Keep in mind I do a lot of trail riding and cross country stuff, so sometimes I need to go really slow and take on some slow paced obstacles, so I need it to idle and bog down and not die. I also want to know if the Wiseco 666 11.1 compression kit is worth it. What does it help with? I'm putting in a GYT-R heavy duty clutch too, so clutch stuff won't be a problem. (As far as power to ground and tranny stuff). Help me out Raptor guys. Thanks

I'd look at trinity's web site they have the ultra light pistons and in different compressions and bore sizes. yes a cam is worth it i'd go with the stage 2 if you increase your compression, if not stage one is fine.

while your in the motor you can jump to the 11:1 but your not going to notice any difference. that hc stage 2 is more top end then the stage 1. if you require more power at a lower rpm you need to look into a webcam otherwise keep your stocker. the stocker gives the most power bottom end, but one webcam gives good bottom end. my advice if your looking for a little more power port and polish your head by a reputable builder. Hands down the best mod you can do to your bike, ell the pipe is the best mod but a good head is next in line. Depending on what exhaust your running depends on your powerband and hich cam you should look into. Check my pics, for a dyno chart that shows where my stage one kicks in. the stocker is goign to die at lik 7k and the stage on carries my powerband all the way to redline. teh stage two will pull top end more than the stage one. look at my dyno chart. with the set-up your looking into this is the powerband you should be expected get. not how their is a "ok" bottom end.

Thanks for the info. The only problem I have is there is no one around here I trust doing head work on my quad, so I will probably have it sent somewhere good. Any recommendations where I should send it?

Are you wanting it ported i have heard micky dunlop FST does that. They should do some good work being a large manufacture of atv engine parts.

i would not send my head to dunlops four stroke tech, so many other builders are making much more power. keep in mind plan on dropping close to $500 for a nice port and polish. PM for details.

Okay. Money isn't that big of an issue. Everything I make goes into the Raptor anyway. LOL. So where should I send it. And also I just wanted to say that I ride pretty hard. I know i'm in the 5-7000 RPM range most of the time, so what do you think. Should I go with the webcam and is it worth it to do the 11.1. (Including headwork obviously) And should I perhaps try an after market head?
