Default E-TON VIPER 90 BAD STARTING

I took my viper out on friday and it took about 3-7 trys to start it. It usually fires up straight away.
Then after i got it started i took it for a spin pressed the horn and it died out again on me
Does anybody know whats going on with this thing ??
Thanks !!

If the horn acts like a kill button then maybe a screw holding the switch together has severed a wire in the switch assy. I'd take it apart and look.
The hard starting, could be due to having the throttle open when chocking it. This actually short circuits the reasoning for applying the choke.
If the choke is on and throttle closed engine vacumn pulls hard on the choke circuit dumping extra fuel into the engine.
Open the throttle and this signal to the choke circuit is greatly reduced hence less fuel being dumped into the engine.

It would also be good to know if any sound was made when it died, and if it was warmed up. Is this the first time you ran this quad this year?

No i have been out on the quad around once every 2 days since Christmas. It was new then.
Usually no probs with it but when i went out to start it. It makes a big bang like metal hitting metal when i use the eletric start. With the back up kick start it wont start for a while. Then when i do get it started it is warmed up a little it will start 1st or 2nd time. At the minute it takes about 7 trys to get it started.

Thanks for the help!

The banging is the starter clutch gone out, it will be replaced under warranty unless major mods have been done. If it is still under warranty. Usually goes bad when kids get the engine started and running but keep the starter depressed. Or to much compression on modified engines.

You may clean the float bowl out, trash from gas cans often find there way in the bottom of your atvs carb.

I ocasionally find one on a china quad, but seldom do we use the electric starters on modded quads. So the answer would be yes there are claims of heavy duty starters, but I seldom see them available any where.
