Default 800 Knocking???

I've only got 80 miles on my new 800 and the motor has a knocking noise at idle. Anyone else notice this?

Thanks,

Michael

The noise is not from the valves, it is definitely a knocking noise and not a ticking noise...

wont be the valves, they are non adjustable. They use hydraulic lifters. Now about the knock, try running a tank of ethanol supreme fuel, they were calibrated in minnisota, all ethanol state. Had some issues that a tank here and there of ethanol fuel eliminated the knock issue

my 05 700 does the samething from day one. dealer says its the injecters on the efi making that noise. i have 250 miles on mine now and i run the hell out of it and its still running great. almost every one on here with the efi will tell you the same thing, but if your still worried take it in and let them look at it

My 800 has only 10 hours on it, and has done this since day one. It seems like after the engine warms slightly that the knock becomes very loud at idle. When you rev up the engine it doesn't sound as bad but as soon as you let off and the rpms come down it sounds awful again. If yours shares the same knock as mine then the source of the knock should be around the water pump on the bottom right hand side of the engine. I posted the same kind of thread a couple of months ago and got the same response that you've gotten. Some people think it's normal and some don't. I don't know what to do either. I love the machine but I want the knock to go away. If you some how find out how to get rid of it, please let me know.

Chad
