LT80 clutch rollers.
#1
I have used the search and found ALOT of info on the LT80...THANKS GUYS!
The one question that I have is how exactly do you drill the rollers in the clutch.
I am taking my sons apart tonight. From what I am assuming..(yes I know what that can do)
There is already a hole in the rollers.
Do you drill out that hole or do you drill 90 degrees from that hole?
There are post about 1/4 " Cross drilled and others about 5/16 drilled.
I am just wanting to line these ducks up before I get something messed up.
Thanks
Mike

THANKS!!!
Man I just finished taking this thing apart!!! LORD HAVE MERCY!!
I never knew that this maint had to be done. (guess I need a manual.)
There was grease caked in the roller section that looked like carbon or dried mud. There was NO grease at ALL!
So I am going to have to order some new rollers and figure out just how to grease this thing.
Thanks for your help!

I have never taken the clutch apart before. Until I stumbled on this section a few days ago I didn't really know anything about these. I always knew there was stuff you could do to them but I didn't put much thought into it.
Now I am blown away at the stuff that can be done.

The LT is pretty easy and not to expensive to hop up a bit.
These little things are fun for sure.
Read through here and you'll get lots of ideas.
Do a SEARCH for LT80 and LT 80 (notice the space).........
You'll be reading for hours........

This is a CVT trans, correct???
I'm pretty sure those rollers need to be kept clean and grease free. If you load them up with grease, they can not roll freely. The black caked material you saw was likely belt and clutch residue. The powder residue may have got wet at some point and made what you are describing.

i know Jack (LT80) told me to grease mine, and i'm pretty sure the Suzuki factory repair manual i have says to also grease them. also, LT80 recommended servicing them every 10 hours of use or so ( I can tell you i DON'T service mine that often, but maybe he was referring to race conditions).
