I found a used 2000 Bombardier Ds650 i was just wodnering what the top speed is for these i heared they really got some power. I also heared from my brother that there real axels break easily he said his friend jumped his and broke the axel because the Ds650 is so heavy. and do these have reverse?

 

First of all, try the search feature, there are several threads on the top speed of a DS, its around 71 Mph. Second, yes, the DS has TONS of power, they are not for the faint of heart! Third, I no idea where your brother is getting his info. He is DEAD wrong! He must ride a craptor! I have never heard of a rear axle breaking, or bending for that matter. I don't see how it could with 11.5 inches of travel in the rear suspention!
Buy the DS, you won't be disappointed.

Heavy ... well yea, but you quickly forget about it.
Broken axle due to weight?? .... Sorry, I have NEVER heard of an axle breaking due to weight... But I have bent mine and Installed a Dura Blue to replace it. I did that on a Mx track not a trail ride.
No reverse .... whats that for anyways???

 

The DS is a monster! Awesome speed and power. I own a Raptor and have ridden a STOCK DS quite a bit. My uncle had one and it was actually in my stable for me to ride when he got sick with cancer. I took it and my Raptor on trips and a friend, we switched off once in a while. I really liked playin on the DS, the mid range hit was utterly amazing. It is pretty heavy, can take a toll on your arms after a day of riding hard, but you get used to it. The only big complaint I really had was that it was very light in the rear and spun around on you in the grass if you werent careful, but that can make it a lot of fun too. I wish I would have been able to keep it after he passed, Oh well. NEVER had anything break on it and we rode it pretty hard on trips.

 

I know this is an old subject. DuneRider, how did you do 75 stock? The mods I see you have don't seem to get you 8 more mph. Do the tires make that much differance? All my tires and gears are stock and I have the RW stage 1 kit and I have a hard time getting in the low 70's.

 

My ds was clocked in at 119 miles an hour in the back of my f150 coming down questa grade in pismo. Other than that i could not tell you.

 

Oh crap, now your truck is faster than mine. I would still let you win either way. Don't they have a fuel shut off at 105 mph?

 

It use to but after the flowmaster, k&n, hypertech power programmer you would be surprized what that 5.4 litre can do. Maybe i will tow the waverunners over to your place one of these days somewhere around like spring break if you catch my drift.

 

I really dont no but i used my gps garmin etrex on all my speed runs....stock was 75mph at the rev limiter...i then went to 22 inch bearclaws on the rear and could barely pull 7300rpms so i went to a 15 tooth front sprocket and now on a long long stretch tucked down by the seat on the same gps it says 83mph....... i do not no how it gained that much since everyone says 22 inch tires with a 15 front sprocket is same as stock and it isnt very close for me..... all my runs are on long long LONG stretches of flat highway so maybe thats why?
