Default 99' Scrambler 500 issues

Ok i have been browsing for months around here looking at many threads but never needed help until now I am STUCK hope all you Veterans can help me.
I have a Scrambler 500 that has a slight miss when starting off, this weekend I rode about a mile and had the miss the whole time after a mile everything went back to normal where the only time I had it was just starting off. This has been going on around a year but seems to be getting worse.I have cleaned the carb, tank and repalced the fuel filter and plug. I am starting to think I have a electrical problem? Any clues and as always thanks for the help.

Could be a cracked plug or a weak wire. My 500 did the same thing and it was a dirty air filter.I removed the outerwear on the k&n filter and the problem went away.

I did clean and change the air filter but I have not tried a spark plug. I have never replaced a plug I think I need to take the gas tank off????
Thanks for the info.

yup front plastics and gas tank need to come off unfortunately.. but it is worth it for the few times you need to change the plug.
