Tank Bag On A Sportsman?
#1
Anyone use one? I was wondering if the gear selector interfered with it?
Something like this.

I use one on my Sportsman. It's not the Mad Dog but it's a Cabelas version and the interference with the shifter is negligible, you won't notice it. THe only draw back is they rub and wear on the tank stickers. Other than that, no problems.

oldsmoboat - I just bought a 2005 sportsman 500 and am interested in the front/rear bumpers. It looks like they are black wrinkle in your pictures, but on the pure polaris site they look smooth. Did you get yours there?
TreeDoc - The rear rack pictured holding you pup - is that the one from Cabelas - ATV hitch haul?
Thanks, guys.

i haven't used one but did see them on a quad at the dealer and it didn't look like it would hit the shifter. they were Polaris tank bags. i agree with TreeDoc that they will rub and wear the plastic.

Yep, that's a Cabelas ATV Hitch Haul in my Pics. My Lab weighs 92 pounds during the hunting season and that creates some leverage with a moment that far back. The front end gets a little squirrely in moderately terrain.

Yes, that's a 2" receiver also from Cabelas. They say they fit the 04 Sportsman but on an 04.5 the transmission has a different case shape and interferes with the receiver. The remedy is to simply cut a 45 across the top corner removing maybe 3/4" of material and all is well. The hitch haul has a short draw bar, if you use a standard draw bar with a ball, the "Reese Mfg" models that Wal Mart sells already have that 45 cut out for some reason so the slip right in.

Did you slip the 2" receiver that came with your hitch-haul around the outside of the existing 1.25" receiver on the Polaris or did you have to modify it somehow. I'm confused about the Cabelas 2" receiver you mentioned.
