Do you need a spark arrestor? If you need one where you ride then the HPD system wont fit your needs. If it doesnt matter and you want the best FULL system out there, then you cant beat it. The White Bros E-Series is a good alternative for a slip-on

Before I dropped that kind of $$$$ in it I would change the primary clutch to a polaris white or green and set the secondary at 2-2.You wont get that much of a gain from a pipe (a little but not head snapping)The clutchis where the power is hidden.

The 500 has plenty of power but you just need to tune the clutch to suit your needs. Like ftwflh said change the primary spring and it will be a different bike. It is the cheapest most effective mod to do that will get the most performance out of it. The spring is around $20 and very easy to install. Also get yourself a K&N filter for a little more snap.

I did the same thing and it lasted the first year, after I decided to upgrade some more I sold the springs and upgraded. You can't beat the difference for 20-40$ (I got a violet secondary also).

If you have the money and ready to spend, get the clutch kit this year, ride it and you will get used to the difference, and then next year get the full exhaust.

Basicly you can get a clutch kit, exhaust, airboxmod kit(comes with new jets) and thats about it as far as performance(fine tunning is anouther story). If you look at it that way you can get 1 or 2 a year to break up the cost, or if you have the money now get it.

It will be a big enough difference that you will be happy but its up to you and how much you want to spend.
