XR600 into 88 250R frame HELP?
#1
Does anyone know if a 600XR motor will fit right into a 250R frame?
What will have to be modified?
Electrical connections?
Mounting connections?
Any other suggestions?
I have an XR600 and have entertained the idea for torque reasons.
Thanks for the help.

Yes, the XR motor will fit with a few modifications. You would have to use the XR electricals. To make the motor fit:
-You would need to fabricate new motor mounts. This is accomplished by aligning the XR motor in the frame ( I believe it must be 1-2" lower than the 250R motor because the XR is taller) and then making cardboard patterns for the new motor mounts, which would then have to be fabricated and welded into the frame.
-One of the main keys is making the countershaft sprocket align with the rear sprocket when fabricating the motor mounts.
-Next, add a custom air intake system and modify an exhaust system and your ready to rip.
This does require some work and fabrication, but is certainly a worthwhile project for someone looking for a high torque motor in a custom quad, not a production polaris or bloated DS.
If you are really interested in the project, I can put you in touch with a few friends that have done several such bikes and give you all necessary information.

I AM INTERESTED !!!!!!!
WHERE DO I MEET THEM, WHAT'S THEIR EMAIL ?
I'm cooling down.
I've found a shop that could sell me chassis and engine (I just don't know the price yet...waiting for their mail).
Actually I want a 400EX frame and plastics and everything, and I'd fit a 600XR engine.
Onestly I'd have guessed that I needed to align front sprocket on the engine and sprocket on the axle.
Depending on how much that guy sells me frame and engine, I'll do it this winter or next winter (my dad, that loves cars and bikes, isn't really hot on seeing me spending my time on putting an engine in a chassis...and taking 3/4 of garage space). However, if there's no frame modifying, it's really easy. Don't tell me that making brackets and airbox is difficult...exhaust semms to be tougher than the rest...
I'll keep you guys in touch.
If you have any advice, go ahead.
