ATV/Dirtbike

Sorry to get off topic, i am so use to riding Atvs i was wondering how atvs perform aganist dirtbikes in drag races. For example the Wr450F Dirt bike how would it compared to a YFZ 450 atv in a drag race, lets say [300 ft]. Also will it beat a quad like a DS 650 or a 660R on top speed. I have been told by friends that it easily will but do you guys have any input?

I've got buddies with dirt bikes (a 125, 250, and 450, all honda's). In a short drag, I win, but add any kind of distance to it, and they pass me. The 125 doesn't get near me untill I top out, then it keeps on goin. the 250 is a little behind me untill I top out, and again, it keeps goin. The 450 is behind me from the jump, but by the end of second gear, I'm just tryin to stay out of his roost. Up a hill the results are different. It takes the bikes longer to start really gettin traction, so I keep the lead longer. my yfz if quicker than all of 'em, but dirt bikes go a whole lot faster! Hope this answeres your question!

from what ive heard (i have no experience with dirtbikes) dirtbikes will blow quads away in most situations. think power to weight ratio a YZ450 will take a YFZ450 even tho they have pretty much the same motor. the dirtbike is over 100 lbs less! dirtbikes will top out higher also. from what ive heard dirtbikes will... or should out accelerate quads unless they dont have very much traction in the terrain. even though i havent riden a dirtbike i have heard a lot about them and not just from one person. even though a dirtbike is "better" than a quad ill take my quad any day over a dirtbike... maybe i shouldnt be saying that cuz ive never riden a dirtbike but i like to think that

I have ridden all the bikes I mentioned earlier, and also some other trail bikes. I would NEVER trade my quad for a bike! I don't have near as much fun on a bike as a quad. Anyway, bikes do out accelerate quads after a little distance. They have to get balanced and get traction, then they catch up, and then start walking away from you. Off the line though, quads get a way better jump. Think about the difference in contact patch from the power wheel(s) to the ground. a dirtbike as about 2sq. in. on the ground, quads have two tires gettin about 2x12 each! Way more traction to the quads. So anyway, once a bike gets into upper second gear, it'll start walking away from a quad. Unless it's something like a 125 to a 450. In my experience, they are about equal untill the quad tops out, then the bike has some room to run.

Was that the four stroke 200? I've ridden a honda fourstroke 200, and that thing was a dog. Yah, my yfz 450 would eat that for lunch. I'm talkin about the 125's, 250's, and 450's, really. Those are the bikes that compare/beat quads. I'm actually surprised taht your raptor 350 beat the 200 though! Cool stuff! I didn't know what kind of power/speed those 350's put out; they must not be too bad!

A YZ450F dirtbike is a lot quicker than a YZF450 quad for two reasons, one is weight, and the other is that even tho they are pretty much the same engine, the 2 wheelers are alway much more tuned. Quad alway are tuned down a bit.

All depends on how the bikes start. If you have a very experienced rider doing a 1/4 throttle 2nd gear holeshot start, there are very few quads going to ever see anything but roost. And the dirt conditions are going to make a huge difference on the bike.
