i rode with some guys last weekend that had yfz's and one had a honda 450. i rode my raptor 660.in some tight woods trails. them bikes scream in the trails. they were complaining about not having a medal skid plate on the rear. we had fun and we ride at race speeds in the woods with no problems

Our local desert race series races the ATVs on the motorcycle race courses, so the "trails" are only about half as wide as an ATV, and are very tight and technical. YFZs win our races more times than any other model of ATV, ... although, a 400EX won the last race, and a DS650 is leading the point series. IT'S THE RIDER, 9 TIMES OUT OF 10, but YFZs can do awesome on tight trails. If you buy a YFZ and can't do trail riding with it, it wont be the ATVs fault.

The YFZ will make you look good in the trails, it is so easy to go fast in the trails with the YFZ, if you do pipe, airbox and cam mod, you will have real good bottom end also. I can go a lot faster on the trails with the YFZ than any quad I have ever had.

The YFZ is a great trail bike. I just rode a real tight technical trail yesterday, the quad rocks. It has the ability to dart in between narrow trees with ease, and the power on tap to muscle up big hills. The front brakes alone are powerful enough to hold you to a crawl going down steep, slippery hills, yet give enough feedback that locking them up is easy to avoid. Even stock the quad has plenty of reserve for tackling anything the tight, steep NE trails offer up. I will agree with the skidplate comment. At least buy a swingarm skid. You can get a decent one for $70.00, and it is cheap insurance against trail damage. I have hit more stuff with mine then I care to think about. A belly skid is bonus and a good idea if you mx/jump a lot. Warning, the front bumper was designed as a 'crumple zone,' one good hit puts it out of commision(but probably saves the frame/rider from some impact) Even a small 'incident' will tweak it. I would budget for a good aftermarket unit that will be much more durable.
