Default Need to sell the '05 TL Pred, Not Happy :(

Well, my fiancee and I bought our quads this year in March. I bought a '05 TL Predator. I have ridden my buddies quads before and have had motorcycles for awhile. I hate to say it, but I am not happy with the Pred. I think I made a big mistake in buying it. My friends have Raptors, Honda 400ex's and even Preds. I asked them before I bought it, should I buy this or a Sportsman? Everyone said buy the Pred, you will love it. See, usually i am the crazy one going fast, jumping stuff, that is why they said to buy it, but all these guys that own these sport quads, also have utility quads, they all have sportsmans. The last couple times we have gone trail riding, I have gotten stuck numerous times, (I have to go around half the trails cause the Pred can't go through all that mud crap), I am usually soaked (where they are bone dry). I am going to the dealer tommorrow to try to get a good trade in value on the pred and get a Sportsman (hopefully a 700 EFI). What is a good trade in value I should get from them? Do you guys think I can get $5000 from the dealer on trade in? The quad probably has no more than 30 hours on it and looks mint (some of the graphics are coming off from powerwashing it, nothing major). It also has Polaris Nerf Bars. What is a good price on the 700 EFI? I saw that company in TN that sells them for $6400 but I know the dealers up here won't go that low. What should i do?

Stock rear tire on the Pred sucks, I bought a set of Kenda Claws, and have no problems with mud or trail riding.

Yes better rear tires will help BUT you will always get covered in mud. If you ride as much as I do then it sucks getting home after every ride and have to get pressure washed.

Sounds like you'd be a good candidate for the scrambler 500 4x4, great mix of sport and utility so you'd have fun no matter what your buddies are riding.

New rear tires will do a lot, but sport quads are not nearly as good in the sloppy stuff simply by design.

I can't believe anyone would even think of trading a new Preddy for a sportsman. So it can't go in deep mud..............ITS A SPORT QUAD!!!!! What were you thinking? A side from deep mud, do you think a Sportsman would be anywhere near as fun as a Preddy?..............Its your money

Ozark,

I guess I didn't realize that it would have that much of a problem on the trails around here. It is fun to ride when the trails aren't that muddy or wet. I am probably going to try new tires on the rear and see if that helps. If not, it is off to the Sportsman I go.

My bad! I guess if you ride on really muddy trails you got to have the right quad. Just a thought, try to get your gal interested in a Sportsman and maybe trade in her TB 250 on one..............

I agree with maddog.
Check our the Scrambler 500.
You'll get the best of both worlds.

Its all in the rider too. I'm not saying that I'm that great at all, I suck at 2wd sport quads. I have buddies of mine that have raptors, 400 ex's and such and they will keep right up there with the 4x's. Lots of balance and clutch work will get you around. I think the Pred is a great wheeler, and you should keep it. And if you got the money (and I know I don't) get the Sportsman too. You'll have the best of both worlds and a wheeler for all terrain.
