Traded up to 05 500 Auto
#1
I made the move to the 05 500 Auto this weekend, trading in my 03 500 FIS Auto. I have put 14 hours on it in three days.
The most noticeable thing about the 05 over the 03 besides the looks is that the 05 is a big unit!!! I have some 26" mudlites on type C rims to go on the unit but not until I finish the summer contract for parks maintenance.
Some nice features that I have figured out so far are the LCD display, improved seat removal, best battery storage I have seen yet in the business, nice tool kit (too bad they are so dang hard to remove...and which wrench works for the wheels!!!). A big selling item for me was the diff lock. My first quad was a 98 Sportsman 500 and it would go many places that my 03 AC 500 would not...and I attributed that to the lack of a diff lock.
Major annoyances so far:
The dealer did not complete my warranty card or provide me with my owners manual despite the fact that he had three days to get the unit ready.
The lack of available storage.
I am experiencing a worrysome "metallic clicking" from somewhere in the rear drive train. It is not noticeable when turning to the right but is very noticeable when turning to the left. It also seems to occur under a load. The sound does seem to come from the left rear area. There is definitely no sticks or any debris in the drive axle areas. The boots are fully intact. What could this noise be? Perhaps a small rock in there somewhere??? Perhaps a bad axle?? Or maybe no grease in the boot? The dealer told me to bring it in, which I will, as soon as I can get it off the jobsite.
I still have to find out about the tank recall...somehow I doubt that this dealer has even heard of the recall!

Congrats on the new toy, Diggs!
Not sure about the clicking you are hearing, but I know on automobiles that bad CV joints click... and more so when turning and putting a load on them- odd on a new machine though.
