1986 trx250 carb HELP!
#1
i just bought a 1986 honda trx250 off of my friend. It has been sitting in his shed for the last few years. i took it home cleaned out the carb a little bit and bought a new battery and check for spark which it had. so i tried to kickstart it and couldnt get it going. I then pulled the spark plug and put a few drops of gas in the cylinder and then kicked it over again and it fired right up. i tried to clean it out a little bit but i cant seem to keep it running and after it shuts off i cant kick start it again. it only works if i put gas in the cylinder. i was wondering if anyone knew what it could be my guess is maybe the main jet or soemthing but im not sure any help would be appreciated.

are you sure you cleaned out the pilot jet good? Take the gas line off the pet **** and turn the pet **** on, to see if gas comes out. If not thats probly your problem (spray some compressed air threw it) Also, did you check the reeds out any?

Im confused. If it has a battery then it wont have reeds, but if it has a battery, why kickstart?I say this because the 2strokes w/reeds didnt need a battery, and the 4 stroke w/battery had electric start and pull rope as back up.This is the way I remember the 250's.

Mine is a 4 stroke with electric start and a kick start. but the electric start doesnt work for some reason i havent looked into it yet i hit the button and nothing not even any noise like the starter is even trying. but i took out the other 2 jets (not the main one) and they seemed to be clogged so im going to buy new ones and see if thats the problem
