Default Tire shake.

I just put a set of used raw hide tires and rims on my 02 500 HO. and now my handle bars are shaking. I'm thinking that the tires are out of balance. The dealer that I got them from told me that you have to balance the wheels and tires installed on the quad!! I don't think this makes much sents. Could a tire shop not balance these wheels on their regular tire machine?? Or do I have to go to the dealer, well at least a different one then I got the tires from. I would expect some tire shake but not this much!! Any help would be great!! Thanks EH!!

It sounds like you have a bent wheel. Are they aluminum or steel. I have never heard of having atv tires balanced

They are steel and I have seen wheel weights on brand new quads with the wheels and tires balanced at the factory. Take a look on the inside of your wheel and tire, I bet you have some weights on yours or a buddys.

the rawhide is a heavy lug tire and needs to be balanced.
check the runout , and for a bent wheel. It is is very possible that in the prosses of dismounting and mounting a wheel got bent, don't take much, a 12 In. tire @ 40 mph could shake the livin crap out of ya.

Yeah, my rawhides shake too. When I got the machine they had wheel weights on the inside of the rim...and now over a years time they've fell off.
