OK, I know i'm on a YAMAHA site but i'm considering either the 450r or the yamaha 450 and need some insight. i,m looking at a 2004 and it seems as though the yamaha is about 500-800 dollars more. what i can see they are about the same. help .......TRY NOT TO BE BIASED.

 

well we need a bit more info to help you. do you ride XC or strictly MX or a bit of both. if you do mainly XC most pros are racing the 450R's and from what ive seen most people for mx ar running yfz's . i have only ridden the yamaha and i felt the suspension was a bit stiff for woods riding. i think the hondas seat is softer but i like the ergonomics of the YFZ. i would go sit on them and see which one you like better

 

A little of xc and mostly dunes. Is there a big difference in stock performance? and then what about the basic bolt on gains, does one gain more than the other ?

 

ill tell ya what i had the same situation, here's how i made my decision, what one can you get cheaper?? whoever gives you the best deal i would go with, honestly the yfz a quicker quad but honda can be just as fast if you hook it up right but person preference i would go with whatever one you can get cheaper

 

get the honda trx450r there the best for sand

 

yeah i think the hondas suspension is a bit softer and made for other things besides 40 foot doubles.

 

Mostly any sport quad can handle 40 foot doubles.

 

O well im not much on the race scene as i have a warrior so i wouldnt know

dont get a honda the yfzs r sooo much faster and handle way beter if you buy the honda you get a real good deal on trouble with it.
