Default 97 Scrambler, Bad Throttle Safety Switch,,,HELP!!!

A buddy of mine just picked up a 97 Scrambler,,,well,he dang near stole it,,,,600 bucks... When he got it, it would not idle once you got it started,,they cleaned the carb, but to no avail,,, I thought right away it acted like the throttle safety switch. Well the switch was bad,,the microswitch was always in the closed position,,no matter where the lever was on the switch. We cut one of the wires, and wammo,,it will now idle decent. The only problem is,,it does not seem to run as well as it should,,sort of boggy,,will not pull wheels even.
The carb is spotless,,I checked it,,,compression is great,,,choke is adjusted, etc. My question is,,will this switch being disconnected(one wire cut) affect the mid and top end performance. The Poo dealer wants 130 bucks for a new one,,he would like to go without it. Any info much appreciated.

Follow the wires from the switch to the wire block and unplug them and see if that helps.
