How should I set up my Rap's Suspension?

ok, it is completely stock...and the shocks are all at the factory settings (in the middle)
I'm 6'4' 225. Mostly ride trails, but like to hit a few jumps when I get the chance. I don't really understand which way I need to go with the rebound and things on the rear shock...and whether upping the preload on the fronts is necessarily what I'm going to want. If anything I want to stay away from the thing jackhammering me over the bars when I land. I have bottomed the thing out a few times when wheeling over a creek...wondered if I could lessen that at all. Money is tight so I'm just looking at the best settings for the stock junk on there now.
Thanks guys in advance....sorry for a rookie post.

right...But I can't afford any decent after market shocks right now. Just wondered if anybody thought having the preload set to the tightest setting would help or not...I know it doesn't make all that much difference as far as bottoming out but just wondered if any body had a certain opinion.
And the rear is fully adjustable, compression/rebound/preload, so there is some room to work there I would think. I just don't understand for sure which way to go with it, thought it'd save time if someone here did rather than my guess and check method.
Thanks for lookin...

im 6'2" 250
I like the preload on max up front to help with rolling in the corners
i set the back so that it rebounds fairly slow,,,but not so much that it packs up over the whoops
i set the damping so it will compress with not that much resistance,,,just enough of each to keep it from bucking
i havent hit many crazy jumps in the last 5 years,,,,,and i ride either slow or fast trails
once you get her dialed in (and you will know when),,,you will be able to just mash it and the back end will walk across the bumps while the front end hovers above smoothly
