honda 200s clutch slipping

Default honda 200s clutch slipping

hey when i ride my atc 200s and accelerate fast and when i shift gears i can hardly tell that it shifts because the engine doesent hardly bog down at all. do you think my clutch plates are shot? or the wrong oil? im running mobil 10w40. thanks jeff

yeah.. turn the adjuster counterclockwise until it stops the 1/4 turn clockwise? is that the correct way to do it?

counterclockwise until you feel SLIGHT resistance! Then 1/4 turn in! If you did it until it STOPED, then your clutch is partially ingaged all the time.

alright, iturned it counterclockwise until slight resistance was felt then 1/4 turn clockwise. so i did it right. so do you think its my clutch plates? it slips from gears 3-5.

Probably need to replace the discs, if You are poor, you could take them out and rough them up !

Does your mobil 10w 40 have the energy concerving label on it? If it does, then it has moly in it.
Theres a line of thinking which says having moly in the oil, can lead to clutch slipping.
If the clutch is adjusted properly, and it doesnt slip in the first 3 gears, just changing out the oil, to a motorcycle specific oil ( non moly), might be all it needs.

no the oil not energy conserving and ive used that oil in my fourwheeler and it worked alright so i dont think that the problem. im thinking the clutch plates are shot.

well i found my problem, the springs in the manual clutch were shot. i put new springs in it and its good as new.
