what problems do the raptors 660's have? especily the 01's

 

well you will hear of alot of tranny problems. Some dont though, mine hasnt, although lots do.
Carb boots pop off and rip
Carbs are sometimes problems
Crappy suspension
My rear shock blew already and i havent rode it very hard....(might be a personal problem though not notorious)
Rev limiter

Reverse switch is easy to break as is the thumb throttle. Replaced with a Dr D reverse lever and OEM thumb throttle from eBay. Tried the billet throttle, but the pull was too stiff.

Parking brake on older models is a piece of junk. Removed parking brake and installed block off plate.

The plastic dashboard falls off and the rubber things that hold it get lost. Replaced with TrailTech billet X-Bar clamp with integrated dash. ALso upgraded to larger dia. bars.

Stock gearing a little tall, dropped 1 tooth on front sprocket.

Misc bolts vibrate loose. Picked up universal replacement bolt kit, comes in really handy.

Stock footpegs a little small. Upgraded to AC Nerfs with pro-pegs.

Stock skid plates are plastic. I destroyed these things. Replaced with aluminum skids. Mangled the rear aluminum skid too. Would recommend going with steel for this one.

 

IF YOU BUY A RAPTOR, MY SUGGESTION IS TO MAKE SURE YOU GOT A FAIR AMOUNT OF TOOLS....BECAUSE YOULL NEED THEM

 

well we have plenty of tools.

the add in the paper said it has many extras. so that probably stuff to fix the broken stuff and what not. they havent called back yet so i have to wait to see if i will get it.

 

I've had zero mechanical problems with my Raptor and I've really run it pretty hard.
I only hope the 700 is as good!

 

no no no, its not as bad as they make it seem.

 

the biggest problem is there soo slow[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

frames are weak

suspension too top balanced

don't run good without mods

carbs pop out if misadjusted

tranny explosion

one-way starter gear explosions

cam chain issues

reverse switch easily broken

choke lever broke easily

and a bunch of other stuff

if you havn't wasted your money...save it and buy something else

 

jason you have obviously ridden your quad hard. If you ride any quad as hard as you've ridden that one then you are bound to have some problems. mx happens to be the hardest on your quad anyways.
