Default wheel spacers on a 4 wheel drive

I was thinking of putting wheelspacers on my kodiak, and saw some ads in the magizines, and noticed a disclaimer at the bottom of the ads. It said not for 4x4 quads.
What would be the reason for this? Has anyone with a 4x4 used the wheel spacers?

I agree, there shouldnt be a problem, but the ads still state no 4x4, and im puzzled as to why.

I'm just guessing, but the axles on 4x4's are pretty thin and extending your tires farther out on the axle will create more leverage making it easier to twist an axle.
Like I said, just a guess.
