Default oil injection 04 lt50

how do i know if the oil injection is working on my sons lta50? i installed fmf pipe and rejetted machine. before the mods, the little guy smoked quite a bit. now it does not smoke at all. im concerned it is not getting oil. how do these systems work? the hose goes into the engine case to the pump i assume? but does not come out to go to the carb? could someone please explain this to me. thank you

If the boy has ridden it more than a few minutes and it hasen't locked up then the injection system is working. The chanbe in jetting i'm sure changed the level of smoke it will let out, due to the fact that the injection system puts in way too much oil, therefore it will smoke less with more fuel added (leans out the mixture ratio). The oil is injected straight into the cylinder where it mixes with the fuel.. I suggest you do what most do and remove the oil tank, block off the hose that goes into the case, and premix your oil. Then you know for sure it's getting oiled.

I agree, the oil injection is a problem. If our LT80 sat for a few weeks the carb would fill up with oil and foul the plug. Since we have removed the oil injection, the bike starts on the first pull everytime and runs like a champ. Your also able to dump some weight from getting rid of the tank.

i figured the amount of oil was preset for the stock fuel/air mix. and i have heard so many horror stories about people burning up their motors, i am going to remove it. so just plugging the oil hose to the case is all i need to do? ive heard 32:1, is this correct?
thanks for your input.

Hello, two ways to do it. LT80 Jack cuts the line from the pump to the carb and inserts a toothpick. also inside the clutch cover there is a gear that comes off the front clutch that needs to be removed. Im not sure if the lt50 is the same as the 80, but you can buy a block off plate and remove the pump all together and then cut the line to the carb and plug it with a vacume line cap you can get at any auto parts store. If you need some pictures of what the setup looks like, let me know and i can e-mail you. yeah, 32:1 works great.

thanks hymis, i think the lt a50 is a bit different. the oil apparently is injected directly to the cylinder, there is no hose to the carb. i imagine the pump setup is similar though.

most people just cut and plug the line that goes into the case there, the pump gear is oiled by the tranny oil, so it won't ever lock up or anything. Then remove the tank and mix a good oil 32:1. good luck
