Default Honda 300 Tire Size

Hello, My dad has a 1988 TRX 300 4x4
Does the tire size height on the front have to be smaller then the rear, like whats on there now? (There the orginal Tires)
or can the front and rear be the same size? being its fulltime 4wd will the transfer case get messed up ?

Hes buying a mower deck for the front of it, and he got a set of 4 turf tires for free off a polaris.

Thanks!

You should stick to the stock set up......one has to be bigger then the other.

I just got rid of my 300 Fourtrax and it had the same size tires all around for many years. I think they were 25s. I don't know if this was bad for it because the front tires are supposed to be 1 inch smaller, but I never had a problem.

I had 26" Mudlites on my 98 300 4X4 front and rear. I rode the thing until the tires were bald and replaced them with the same 26" tires and never had a problem. It will not hurt a thing to put the same size on the front as is on the rear.

With a full-time 4X4, you want the rear to "push" a little more than the front "pulls". That way you aren't going to have to fight the steering all the time. On the Rancher for instance, Honda accomplishes this by gearing the rear a little higher than the front. On the 300, they did it by putting smaller tires (lower gearing) on the front. Stick with the stock sizes, like Honda intended!
