Hey there, I've been here before when I owned my KFX400 but it's been a while since I sold it last year. I just bought a leftover SE Raptor 660 (all black) for $5,800 OTD, Not great but not bad considering its not even out of the crate yet. My question is about break in procedures and what do you guys reccomend?

im sure a couple more people will have more info than me, but wut my friends do wen they had new quads, they just rode it like they would any quad, but the thing is not to ride it forever, let her cool down every now and then. Congrats on the new bike. There is going to be a lot of different people with a few different answers. Check this site and it may help Here . I believe in letting it warm up and ride it like you would always ride it, which is ***** to the wall for me. I have owned many bikes and my neighbor has owned many of the same bikes, I used to break mine in by the book and he would give his hell. He would outrun my bikes every time and I have more experience than him at riding. I now let it warm up and ride it hard and when I ride other people's stock bikes, I feel that mine has more power than a bike that has been babied. It's really up to you, but if it's going to break, it would do it at break in, instead of after the warranty has run out. It's all in personal preference.

Thanks guys. Yeah I kind of knew it was a open ended question. But I've come to figure that personnal preference is best. I cant wait to start ridding again its been a while. How often is the real world time frame for oil changing? I think with my KFX I changed it after like 10hrs-20hrs and then like every 20 hours after that? Do you think I should bother buying a warrantee? I've heard both sides of this as well. What do you think?

well since its new you will want to change it more often, to get all the metal shavings out, but dont worry thats common in a new machine!

I agree with the braking it in how ur gonna ride it, best runnin 400EX i ever owned outa 3 was the one that i broke in by pullin it off the truck, startin it up and takin off wide open down the road.
