Default Yamoto 70cc, a good choice?

We are looking into purchasing two Yamoto 70cc for our two kids. They are 6 and 8. We were concerned about durability and ease of use. The kids will NOT be using this for racing or anything of the sort but rather just to ride around 70 acres instead of walking. Want them to have fun and be able to use them for a few years but didn't know if the Yamoto had a good reputation for long term use. The 8 year old is a petite framed female so I didn't want to get anything larger for her. Would the Yamoto be a good choice? Are parts difficult to procure? Are they durable? Do these have difficulty getting around in sometimes rough areas and fields? ANY advice, suggestions, or comments would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

The new 70cc Yamoto atv's are much better than the prev years. They now have dual a arm front susp and now owned by Patriot motorcycle. PArts are easy to get and patriot has been around for years. As for the off brand atv's Yamoto is at the top. They are pretty reliable expecially the 50 70 and 110cc atv's. The 150 have had alot of problems but are getting better. My son has a 110 and he loves it.

We bought 2 for the same reason. I bought 2 black and red Yamoto 70 for my son and his cousin who just turned 10. Great little machines. The stock batterys are junk. Caused a few weeks of sad little kids. Took a while to convince myself it was the month old battery. Both machines had the same problem. Replaced them and they run like little champs. Don't let them fool you, I'm 220lbs and those little things get up and go with me on them.

They have enough power to go any place the kids dare. They do lack a little snap from a start but after some time seeing the kids ride it's probably a good thing for the lawn and anyone else's grass thats in the way.

Have fun

Low end is POOR and the turning radius is the worst on the market...In other words, you'll need a WIDE area to turn the 70cc Yamoto around..Other than the battery and turning radius, its a pretty nice ATV for the $$..I do like the auto trans and the shaft drive..

BUY it from RACEWAY----great folks over there!

I havnt looked at a 70 but on my wifes 150 the tierod bolts stuck down too far and hit the steering stem bracket limiting the turning radius a bunch. I spaced them up with 3 washers on each one and cut the steering radius practically in half.

Hey,
thanks for the heads-up on that,I'll look at the 70cc this week and see if I can space my tie-rods too..I HATE the turning radius on this 70cc and hope it works for me.

Thanks again,
Bill

We purchased two of the Yamotos and are very pleased with them. The turning radius is awful for me as an adult however great for my kids because they are less likely to turn too sharp and potentially flip it over. Like I said we have 70 acres that are pretty open so it works nicely. They are also a little sluggish on the upstart for me but again great for the little ones. We tried to purchase through raceway however they were sold out and wouldn't get them in at the time we needed them. Plus we were also told by another dealer that Yamoto no longer allows dealers to ship these or they void the warranty. Just a heads up for those looking at these.
