I just raced a 2005 yz 125 the other day... raced him down the road till we both topped out on a straight just wanted to let ya'll know i smoked him! his bike was pipped and had v-force 3 reeds. i did get a little bit better start than he did but i was pullin away from him through all the gears.

 

sounds like someone needs to learn how to ride his dirtbike a bit better

 

i duno man it seemed like he was riding it to its full potential, he didnt pin it in first cause he didnt wana loop it on the street but i did the same

 

there are many factors to why you won, but in all my experience, i've raced quite the variety of ohv's with my banshee, and the ones that really gave me a run for the money, where dirtbikes, never a raptor(not saying that i can beat every raptor out there right now, i can't, my quad doesn't have a motor in it) but one of your build(pipe and filter) against a yz-125 with pipes and a v-force 3-reed, says one of two things, he either needs to re-jet, or he needs to ride a bit better.

 

he should have out accelerated u to his top gear at least. ull beat him top speed wise tho. trust me look at my sig.

You guys are foolish to think a 125 is faster than a raptor. The Raptor is not the fastest quad EVER, but 125 motox bikes are NOT that fast.

(sure.. they scream and make a lot of noise.....)

 

well yeah, of course a raptor is FASTER, but acceleration wise, the 125 should have topped out before the raptor, therefor not being really a fare race, to many variables

 

Well, as I have explained in MANY other threads......

My banshee easily smokes... not just beats.. but easily runs away from my two buddies YZ125, (older) and KX125.
They whine out each gear, then the next gear up barely yields them any more actual speed/acceleration. The motoX gear ratios are just to close together, and the lack of
torque requires close ratio gearsets.

The Shee just flat out runs away faster with each gear change. Not even a good race... at all.
