Default K&N air filter

i have a 1996 polaris trailboss that runs a little over 50mph. not bad but not good enough. if i put a K&N air filter in it would this increase my speed any? is there any other cheap inexpensive ways to speed her up a little. please let me know.

I don't think putting a K&N in will speed it up (I could be wrong) but I just recently put one in my Xplorer 400 and I did notice it had better throttle response after I put it in. I'm not sure what to put in to speed it up. Clutch kit? Exhaust? Hopefully someone with more knowledge then me will chime in soon. Good luck.

I've put K&N filters in all my wheelers. I didn't really notice a difference in the sp700 or the 250 Trailblazer, but I noticed a difference on the 400 and a big difference in the 90.

thanks so far. i thought id get a second opinion before i buy one. this atv has an automatic transmission and i was wondering if these things need any sorta tranny fluid? someone mentioned a clutch kit, about how much will this cost me and will it run faster and have more throttle response afterwords? keep in mind the automatic transmission this atv has.
