Default How much for a Busa motor?

I have a question for the guy's who've done the 'Busa conversions, or have at least looked into the cost of building one of these monsters.....
I ran into a friend today, who recently laid down his 'Busa at around 80mph. He's willing to sell me the motor, and all necessary electronics. It's got around 80,000 miles on it, and runs great.
He's gonna call me this weekend, so I can go look at the stuff, and talk about what he want's for it.
What's a fair price for these parts? Can someone give me a heads up on what parts I must have off of this bike to do the conversion?
Thank's for the info!!!
Justin

This particular 'Busa was the last year before the governor was added to tone down the MPH, so it's a few years old. It was his "daily driver", thus the high miles. He was religous in taking care of it, so it was a good runner prior to the accident.
With that mileage in mind, what would a fair price be?

If he doesn't give you a fair price, I would look for a 02-05 gsxr 750 motor instead...jmo

If ou look at Ebay, you will see that a "car kit" busa motor goes for about $2500. These motors a nearly new,and have low miles, so I would think 1500 for your friends motor would be fair.

Bigger. . . I saw those "Car Kit" motors on eBay. What's the deal with them?

Are they for a Sand Rail Car? What else are people putting these things into?

When they sell the motor with all the electronics, wiring and Radiator, which is all you need to get the motor running, they call the whole bundle a "car Kit" . ou can use the motor for anything from a quad, to a sand rail, to a go-cart, etc etc....

FYI,
When buying a "car Kit' like I did. Most don't come with any of the handle bar switches, controls , or the speedo/Tach instrument panel. That stuff ends up costing you another $400.

i know where there is a 2001 i think? with new bearings and piston, tranny grears have been cut. motor
has just been freshened up. comes with radiator, wiring harness. etc.. everything you need. its my buddies drag bike shop.he always has different motors for sale. usually reasonable.he knows how to make a bike run. if you want a big bore kit in it to .. he can do that to.i gave him $3500 for a fresh busa motor with a cut tranny to and new bearings and eveything needed.he is so swamped with work and he doesn't get in any hurry with his work. he is the one that built my ds and i have blown away other stage 2's.he is here in augusta georgia. james
