Default DS has NO electric power

Ok here is what happened.
Two weeks ago when we were leaving from a ride my DS up & dies while putting along in 2nd gear. I thought it was the gas. So I coasted put it on reserve & tried to fire. Nothing... The dash lights & headlights weren't on either. I messed around rocking it, pulling clutch in turning on & off key. Then things took off like usual. I really didn't think about it much. Later when I got home I tried to recreate the problem with no luck. I thought maybe it was a fluke or something I was doing wrong. Anyway I go to ride it today. Same thing just sitting in the garage. It's like it has no battery in it. The battery is good though. But no lights, no start not even a click. I really didn't have time to mess with it tonight. I have a kill switch I need to take my hood off & check those wires. But if it isn't that where should I start first? Anyone ever had a key switch go bad? Any other ideas?

Also, If I were to unplug just one wire from the kill switch would that return the quad to stock in the sense it's like the kill switch never exsisted? Reason I ask is I can almost pull one wire off of it's spade terminal without taking the hood off. Just thought if the part of the switch on the handlebars was bad this would point that out.

As usual, thanks in advance.

it's your rectifier by the battery, where the main power wire runs from the battery and goes to a gold looking thing. the gold looking thing is the rectifier and needs to be replaced. although another slim chance is there are 2 inline blade fuses under your seat along the frame... check those as well, and let us knw what you find.

check all conections start with the battery. I had the same thing out on the dunes. it was the neg. battery cable. even if they look good. they can still be a problem. I had to take my cables off, clean them and reinstall.

Sounds like a fuse blew. Under the seat as stated.

Good one Busmechanic. I thought the same thing. AND GUESS WHAT! IT WAS!

I checked the fuse & what I found was this. The fuse did not burn out like usual. But instead it melted the fuse & the fuse holder. I pulled the fuse out & put a new one in & everything was A-OK. The problem is this. It's not really 100% OK.

First why would my fuse do what it did? A friend said if a fuse isn't tight that it could arc & melt like that. The other problem is although it works my fuse holder is melted. It has plastic melted in the metal part. I'm kind of afraid to use it like that. I looked around at auto stores & really didn't find anything exactly like that. I found what looked like might work online though. I thought I might cut mine off & solder a new one on. I found one on here part number FH-ATO-12WP blade fuse holder Anyway if anyone knows where I can get a replacement cheap let me know. Or if anyone knows how or why this would happen please share your thoughts.

Sometimes it's the craziest things. I couldn't get my machine started after we made it to Mio, MI this past weekend. It was simply fouled spark plugs which wouldn't allow the machine to start. This is the second time this has happened. It think this happened because I installed my OEM CDI and the plugs weren't adjusted to the stock CDI. Good luck.

We have a group heading to Silver Lake for rides on August 19th and 20th. Have you been there this year?
