I bought my 2000SP500 in early June. This is a list of the problems so far.

2 weeks - Water pump seal.

3 months - Lower steering bushing and six of the rear spacer bushings in the rear. Also new brakes front and back.

4 months - Water pump seal again and Speedo went out.

All of this has been fixed under warranty including the brakes. A little bit of a pain in the a$$ but I feel the ride makes up for it.

Problems -0-

Warranty work -0-

It is much more rugged than my previous Sportsman 400

Greg, thanks for the honest report. We all know that some of the people on this website sometimes bend the truth a little.

Good luck

"Bill,
Your pissed?

I just my H.O back from the shop yesterday because of a bad primary clutch. The sheaves where grooved and caused a driveline clunk everytime the the belt engaged. This is also after my left front hub seal blew.

Lets see now 617 miles; one bad clutch, two belts, hub seal blown, rear rubber sway bar spacers shot.

I am not impressed with the quality of my new machine at all. This is my 5 th Polaris and probably my last.

Sounds like you've changed your tune a little Odin, why the change of heart?

Not to take anything away from any of the other manufacturers, but just about everyone that rides like I do in the conditions I ride in have problems. I can not contribute all of my problems to Polaris. The Speedo, however, has never gotten wet, and the bushings that have gone out may have gone out due to mud and grit getting to them. Also I have been told that the water pump seal also goes out due to grit getting to it. Overall my problems have not been that bothersome, and the dealer has taken care of everything in a prompt and fair manner. I would probably consider another manufacturer if I bought another quad today, but it would still be a hard decision. The SP500 is just that much better than any other quad on the market in my opinion. By "better" I mean ride and performance Not reliabilty.

Just might be my last Polaris until somebody builds one better for my riding needs.

I removed the 26" Mud Runners, lift kit, and heavy duty front springs and returned my machine back to stock form.

I just returned from a 200 mile ride this weekend. One word on the ride and performance AWESOME! Until some other manufacturer builds a faster better riding quad with true 4x4 my a$$ will be on a Sportsman.

I'll just buy the extended warranty and ride it till the wheels fall off. I have owned the quad for 48 days and already have almost 800 miles on my Sportsman already.

True allot of people do bend the truth and Greg from some of the pics of were you guys ride , you are allot harder on your machine than I am for sure. and your right ride them that hard and they all will need stuff. So far mine had been great, but i ride mud about 10 percent of the time the rest is cruising on trails. I really think the heavy mudding is hard on them add bigger wheels and lift kits I beleive also add to the wear and tear, but it also adds to the performance and there is always a price for better performance. Even if i had problems I would still not buy anything out there right now but the SP. It is hard to eplain till you own one, just driving it is not enough you got to live with them to know it, mine is so plush now it seemed to get plusher after about 1200 miles. I smile every time I ride it. I know I ould be unhappy with anything else. SP's will spoil you big time.

Greg, I have to agree with snowshark in saying thanks for an honest report. I'll let you know how the Rubicon holds up when I have had it longer. Only thing to date is the headlight bulb that popped, and then me stipping a screw to get it out.
