Guys, I'm new here to the forum, I picked up a red '05 DS back in June, man is this thing sweet! Anyway, wondering if anyone can recommend a good mud tire for the DS? I'm figuring on 22's, but not sure what tires to select. I ride creekbeds & soft black dirt mainly. Thanks for the help.

bearclaws had 3 sets on my ds so far and they are GREAT

 

I personally dont care for bearclaws (and yes I have run them) because they are SOOO dang heavy! I bought sur-trac for my last two sets and loved them to death. They are thinner ply (bearclaws are 6) but I have never punctured a sur-trac. The sur-tracs are SO much lighter, and I feel they get better traction than the claws (more spaced out lugs, wider center lugs).

I also had realtor tires, they work great, but again are super heavy!

 

i have looked at those sur trac's and thought the lugs looked small...as in not high and would wear out fast...how are they in real life are they just as big lugs as the bearclaws?

 

The lugs are about the same in height. I found the bearclaws last a bit longer than the sur-trac's but I feel the sur-trac's have more traction in both the wet and dry.

Last I bought some they were only like 40 a tire.

 

My cous has a set of vampire super swampers on his ds and they chew pretty good. With those tires it is not even the same bike when it comes to mud and snow.
