Default One of our Kings died on the trail EFI light on.

There were 2 king's in our group of friends and family on our trip last weekend. Dad's died on the trail in colorado last weekend with less than a 100 miles on it. His buddy that bought one the same day, his did run fine all weekend. Dad's was done, we checked every fuse I unpluged and pluged the ECM to make sure it was not a connection. Went out of warranty 2 weeks ago , from the search I just ran it sounds like some of you king guy's have had this same problem and it was the ECM. What do you guy's think? The Fi light came on it died and would not restart. had to tow it in off the mountain. Is this something Suki should cover even out of the 6 month warranty or is he SOL. Also did anyone els have a similar problem but turned out not to be the ECM. It acts like it is not getting any fuel.

Have him switch ECMs out with his friends. If it starts you know what the problem is. Mine did the same thing at 140 miles. It was the ECM. Mine was only 2 weeks old at the time so it was covered.

We thought about that but we were afraid there might be another problem that caused the ECM to fail and we were afraid we would end up with both kings dead and we had another machine we could borrow so we played it safe. His friends was bought the same day and we also didn't want to have to pay to fix both of them if there was some kind of short causing the failure. Do you think its safe to try it.

It's perfectly safe to swap them around and yes, it's a fried ECM. Get a different one installed at the dealer (they won't just give you one and let you do it yourself) and go. Mine did it at 14 miles and I now have over 150 and nothing else has happened. Certainly not to say it won't in the future, but I would have thought it would have went ****-up by now if it was going to.

Do you think the problem was wide spread enough that they will cover it even out of warranty.

My ECM was replaced as part of the "Reverse Recall". No cost to me.

Here is a great idea switch ecms with the guy that just bought his qaud so he can take it back and get a new one installed and you take his then both quads run?

It's more common than it should be. Here you will find discussion where others have had the same problem...

The other one was bought the same day at the same place. Its out too. I will ask dad if he recieved anykind of recal info maybe he did and did't take it in. If I am understanding goblin correctly he had his recalled replacement fail and its the old one that works. Either way it needs replaced, but I think dad is pissed he was talking about trading it in on a Bomb 800. Or a new Black 06 king, anyone know when the 2006 's will hit the lot.
