Just curious if drilling holes in the airbox of my 250 recon would make any noticeable difference? being a recon,I am not looking to add speed but maybe some quicker acceleration.also,how many,where,and how big for the holes?...thanks and ride safe.

 

i was wondering about that 2 i was thinking about doing it for my 300ex but i thought u drilled the lid out

 

well when you drill holes in the airbox LID if you go through deep water and it covers the airbox then it will flood it out but if you drill them dont put them directly over the airbox and the corners work best the hole diamamiter is 1in were is canton ga im in albany is it close to here.

im not sure if the holes help but this is all i know

Bigco,not sure were albany is w/o map but canton is 40 minutes due north of atlanta just off 575.as far is holes,thanks for the advice,dont plan on riding in alot of water due to being 2wd but ya never know. I asked this question because even with better air/fuel mix,the recon isn't exactlly what you'd call speedy,but I dont ride fast anyway.I own a 2002 nissan frontier 4x4 with a eaton supercharger and when I replaced the stock airfilter with a k&n filter it seemed to actually dogout a little more of the start but would throw ya back in your seat in mid-range through low top end.Being the same principal relating to cutting hole in airbox lid for less air restriction on my quad,I wonder if it would dog the low-end of my quad more than help it? what do you think?

If your jetted properly, you should feel a gain through the whole RPM range. If you do this and it works well w/out rejetting, I will hafto do it to my friends 98 recon. Goodluck though, you won't hurt anything Im sure. People do this all the time on the other forums Im on

 

i i dont see the point in drilling holes when you can just leave it off.
