Default Round spring in rear bearings?

I was tapping out my seals and bearings and a round spring came out with them.
Any idea where they go?Did i screw up the bearings?

I adjusted my chain and let the seal fall and didnt notice,so i figured after riding for 3
days in muddy sandy trails i should make sure my bearings were ok.

Hi, I am new here but I have your answere. The spring is what puts pressure on the seal lip for it to seal.I only know this because I just went through the carrier on mine. The seal is setup just like my other quads and most all other seals. So the only thing you need to worry about is dirt and grime getting into the bearing, wich is a big concern.I would take it back apart and fix it, and trust me I know it is a pain to work on the rear of these things.Good luck, RUSS

Yes. and I would take it easy until you fix it. It probably came loose when you removed the seal.I actually dinged my spring a little when I removed everything, even after using my seal remover.Hope this helps you out.RUSS

I was thinking about doing mine again, too. I changed them about the same time as well. I have always wondered if I put enough grease in the hub and around the bearing. If I had to do it over again, I would have been more liberal with the grease so as to help keep as much water and gook from coming in as possible.
I remember when I changed them out, I could not save the race. Inside there was a spring. Figure I'll have to replace with new each time I tear into it.

You know as nasty as it was my races and bearings are in good shape.
I probably used enough grease for two cleanings. That might be why
they still look good. What worried me was the round spring.

rfwlll is correct. The springs are in the seals to maintain intimate contact between the axle and the seal lip. If you left it out you will quickly lose the seal and will contaminate the axle grease.
