I have some K&N air filter cleaner and oil that I use for the K&N filter in my truck so I just wonding if that stuff would be safe and work good on the stock foam air filter in my 2001 Honda TRX350?

 

I would think so, same sticky type oil

 

The oil is very similar, but the additives arent. The filter oil used on cotton fiber(like KN), have different solvents and disperants, to spread the oil, and wont harm cotton, but eats the foam of foam rubber fiters. So the short answer is no, dont use it.
If you go to some of the foam makers web sites, they have warnings to not use the cotton type filter oils.

 

i've used it about 10 times my filter still looks like it came from the factory no type of chemical eating that i can see, the cleaner works amazing too

 

Alright thanks, I won't use the oil then, I guess have to go to town after all the pick up the right oil. What about the K&N cleaner? Would I be able to use that? If not then whould dish washing soap work okay?
