KQ GPS mount?
#4
I use a Magellan Meridian (I think) GPS. It works quite well, however if I had it to do over again I would spend the extra for a unit that actually displays topographical, or even flat atlas style mapping on the screen in addition to my travel track. All I get right now are Lat/Long and a screen that shows dotted lines where I have been. I still have to pull out a trail map and look up my lat/long to see where I am in relation to my surroundings. A GPS that already has a graphical map for North America would be better as you would have it all in one unit. Oh yea, get a color screen too!
As for a holder go to the following site: http://atvstuff.com/images/v1/eagse268.htm, this is the holder I use. I actually do not use the portion of the holder that goes on to the handlebars or the front rack. I drilled two holes in the top of where the gas tank would normally be and screwed the holder to it. That way I can always see it from the seat and it is protected from stray branches and such. I also leave my plugged in to the 12v adapter as it can run all day and only need the battery when the KQ is not running.
Hope it helps!

I have a Garmin. It really isn't important which brand you purchase, as long as it has the functions you want.
Make sure your unit has the UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) capability. UTM is much more convenient and accurate for land navigation. You can pinpoint your location on a topo map (with UTM grids printed on it) to within 50 yards or so. UTM grids are 1000 meter squares. Lon/Lat navigation is best when used on water.
