Default 400ex oil and filter

I am getting a 02 for my son tomorrow and it needs a oil change. Will Valvoline 20w50 racing oil be ok or does it need to be synthetic?Or would a 10w40 be better. Also what filters will work on this?I am 40 miles from the closest Honda dealer.

Not to sure about what your asking on the filter. Go to any dealer and just ask for the 400ex filter and they will get it for you. Depending on temp. where you ride you may want to refer to the manual for the oil. Although 10w40 should be fine. There has been many arguments on what oil is the best. I would just play it safe and use a high quality motorcycle engine oil suach as castrol. Some will tell you there is no difference in car oil and motorcycle oil except for the price. Its up to you if want to take that chance.

Use a good oil with friction modifiers for the clutch.. Just any regular motor oil will not work...

ebay, or use Service honda for your needs..
