I think i figured out my sputtering problem I am getting water inside the stator cover. I removed the cover to let everything dry out and ordered a new gasket cause the old one was beat up... Is there anything else i should do?

 

well water in the stator cover can easily lead to a fried stator. when it all drys i would see if it runs if it doesnt you probably roasted your stator, but your on the right track
