Default 84 250r speed?

how fast is an 84 250r stock? what is the stock gearing, my 1984 atc250r just isnt living up to the legend behind it and i want to figure out why, yes it has alot of acceleration but it wont seem to go more than 60 give or take a few mph, is this normal for the 84, this is my only concern other than the top speed issue its an awsome bike with alot of potential

yea first thing, you got the smallest front sproket that I have ever seen on a bike, stock airfilter with a performance pipe and you clutch ain't adjusted right. Their is diffently somthing wrong if I can stay ahead of you on a warrior

Yeah should be in the low 70 high 60 range. Stock front sprocket is a 13 tooth and rear sprocket is a 42 tooth. What size sprockets and tires are you running?

The old '84 air cooled models aren't nearly as fast dead stock on top end as the liquid cooled 250Rs, which could nail 75 mph. You would be more like high 60s at best with the '84 bone stock, remember, this was 1984, and super fast trikes were a new concept. I rode one with low profile flat-track style tires one time and the bike did seem to arrive at top end at something like 64-65 mph due to the much shorter tires, I'm guessing all stock would be more like 68 mph.
