My riding buddy has a new 700EFI and every time he gets in a mud hole in high gear he smokes the belt(these are mud holes I take my Scrambler through first) What do you all think could be wrong with this tank?

Tell your budd to always put it in low gear too much torque in mud and will always smoke the belt my 600 does it in high gear as well.Run in low and GIVVER he wont get stuck.

no offence, but your buddy is an idiot. whenever in any situation that requires torque or yoru moving through thick stuff, use LOW RANGE

The scrambler doesn't have low, is there that much of a power difference on these things?
Power to weight ratio I suppose.

the sportsman weighs at least 150 pounds more than your scrambler

Sportsman also has much larger tires to turn.

If he's splashing in at a higher rate of speed he could be getting some water in the PVT snorkle.

I would also use low, unless its real wet soupy mud like a pond.

As a general rule if you must put it in 4 wheel drive it needs to be in low.
