blaster 240 vs honda 400ex
#2
if the only thing on the blaster is the 240 kit, it will probably still lose to the 400ex, though maybe not. Depends on the length of the race. Blaster has great power - weight ratio.
As for what I would rather have in my garage?? 400EX hand's down.

I'm not sure on what all the 240 kit does for the blaster. I've heard anwhere from 24 - 30+ HP depending on the builder and quality of port-n-polish job. The stock blaster carb is also small, and really would need replacing to wake up the 240 kit.
Having said all that, if the gearing doesn't change via sprockets, then you're still going to top out before the 400EX, and on a longer race it will have you in the end.
As for why I would pick a 400EX. Well, for starters I like the styling of the 400EX (older model that is). It's unique, much like the Warrior and Banshee, it has distinctive styling. It's also a proven bullet proof quad with great ergonomics, handling, power. The blaster is no doubt a fun machine, especially as light as it is, but I'd really just rather an EX. Now if I had my pick of any 4 - wheeler (sport) on the market ?? Hrm .. I think I'd have to go with either the Raptor 700R, or the kawisukicat 400.
In any event, enjoy what you got.

Well I just got my blaster ported(150 buckswith shippin' on ebay-rb porting)and I am confident in saying it would beat a STOCK 400ex.It feels really quick, and even comes almost straight up in 4th w/o even using the clutch. My other mods are pro circuit pipe,k&n,no lid,and 60 over pro lite piston.A buddy of mine has a hollywood 240 kit,not sure what else, and told me he raced a suzuki z400 with a 440 yoshi kit,and he kept up with him thru 5 gears-behind by about a bike length the whole time. He's reliable,so Id say that u'd easily pull even a modded 400.

a 240 blaster has potential to beat a 400ex but it takes more then just a bore alone like porting, carb, reeds, pipe Ive never personally raced a 400 but i have murdered a couple of 300exs with ease

how much would it cost to get all the porting, carb, reeds, and the big bore kit?
