Blown up Blaster for $400
#1
I'm looking at a Blaster with a seized bottom end. Is it worth $400? How much work is it it to replace a bottom end? I've done a couple top ends before (on motorcycles) but no bottom ends.
Thanks,

The whole bottom end assembly (#1) $221. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts WarehouseMore if you need more parts.

Probably need a case splitter. It is a lot more labor intensive than a top end, but if you feel comfortable with those shouldn't be a problem. I would recommend a service manual to help with getting the transmission and everything back together in proper order.

To me, a blaster is such a cheap quad around here. You can buy one that runs for $800. But by being able to do the work yourself, you can probably keep it under $800 and then you can say it has a brand new bottom end and sell it and make a few bucks or keep it if you like. I think $200 is a better price for something like this. If the person selling it knew how to fix it, they would have. To pay someone to do this kind of work would probably cost $600-$700 in parts and labor. And then its only worth what you put into it, if that. If its been sitting for while, I think the price might be more negotiable. Blasters are a dime a dozen. Find a Banshee needing a new bottom end, then that's a different story.
