Question about springs?????
#1
I keep hearing how changing to the green spring makes a big differnce on the 2 strokes. Has anyone tried this on the SP500. If so, what were the results? I am not too worried about performance after 50MPH. If it knocks my bike down from 60 - 50 top end, it will be well worth in if it improves bottom end. Anyway, I need advice please. I have been smoking Tazgrizz in the drag on a regular basis; however, he is still close enough that I worry about it. If he is going to be behind me, I would like there to be some distance. At this point he is still an alleged heterosexual, but I am taking no chances. LOL

Greg i run the polaris green spring in my sp 500 and it makes a dfference in rpm also it gives you aliitle more get up and go off the bottem and is still great trail machine and it did not hamper it in the mud. I did not notic a loss in top end either but this is a polaris green spring so i ddon,t know how An RcR spring will be.

White spring with 48 gram clutch weights works real good. Green Spring grabs at too high an rpm to do anything but hot rod. Crawling and tight manuevering are hindered by the all or nothing green spring. Remember that the spring works against the centrifugal force of the clutch weights to determine your take-off and gear ratio. LOL Silly Later,,,,Fourlix

EPI's catalog has all the springs listed in it an how you look at how a spring works is by the 2 # they list. I have a brown spring in my 95 TB an the brown spring is a 60 an 210 for the spring rates the small number is for the engagment an the higher # is the shift load so this spring needs more rr's to shift an hight take off. I have now in my TB a pink spring that is 65 by 195 witch works great for racing motocross. So when you go in to order the springs keep this in mind you can look up the stock #'s to compare hope this help's you figure out what you want. An if you want it to excellerat faster get a new helax im using a EPI 44/40 degree the stock one was 40/40. Great improvment for me.

There is no speacial tools needed to change weights. i have run heaver and lighter weights but at the time i had the stock spring in there was no rel noticble difference in my book. Maybe with aan heaver spring it would be different
