Default Canadian prices ridiculous!

I was looking at the new prices of the 06'honda450r and 06'yamaha450 at my local dealers. They wanted $9800 for the yammy and an even $10k for the honda. It matches when I looked on the canadian manufacturer websites. However normally im on american websites and didnt thinkt he prices are so high. According to US yamaha website the YZF450 goes for $6999 U.S or roughly $8,200 canadian using currency converter and the TRX450ER is $6649 which is $7800 canadian. Where does the huge diff in price come from????? I dont want to end up going somewhere in montana (about a 6hr drive to border) and getting one there and coming back if this crap is that much money more here, I dunno why. It should match the currency exchange rate right?

Maybe shipping cost. Couldnt you go to a American dealership buy one and take it back with you.

Hate to break it to you but canadain prices are roughly the same if not cheaper. Ur conversion is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wrong if canadain money was worth that much. well thats another story. But 7000 american is bout 10 500 cnd. That coversion think ur usin must be sooo wrong.

even with import taxes being 15% and dollar at .85 if you take the msrp of 6800 U.S x 1.30 you dont get 10k I should just buy from some good dealer in montana and pay the customs/brokerage fee.

Sounds like a good idea. Probably cheaper, 15% tax is ridiculous

It works good the other direction. A friend of mine mail ordered his CRF450 MX bike from Canada and saved about 700 bucks over dealer invoice here in the states.
