Default Foreman 500 warn winch 2.5 install

Anyone have experience installing the warn 2.5 on the Foreman 500? Where is the best place to mount the solenoid?. I mounted the old 2.0 on my 91 300 4X4 in the trunk box several years ago, but I am told that the solenoid is not the same as the old warns (much smaller). The warn dealer stated to mount it under the seat. The winch should be arriving in the next few days so I am getting prepared for the install.

Where should I tap into for power when the key is on?

Thanks in advance....new to the forum!

I have a 2005 rubicon and there isnt any room under the seet for mine I had to mount it in the back trunk
like you did on your old one I have the warn 3.0 and a warn 2.0 and the 2.0 has the old silenloid. you will like the new one compared to the 2.0 but if you still have the old 2.0 you could have just got the upgrade kit for $150 and you would have every thing the new 2.5 has and it makes the 2.0 a 2.5 just with the new wires and silenoid. If it comes with the remote and the plug I put the plug in the glove box on left front fender and I keep the remote in there handy place to keep it and no one nows it is there.
I hope you got the winch mount from warn as well I got a cycle country first and it would not work so I had to go get the warn mount for the 2.5 and 3.0 winch. good luck on the install I hope I was able to help.

I mounted mine to the side of the trunk, where the directions suggested, and it worked good.

As for keyed power, I tapped into the wire for the cig lighter plug. I saw on some other thread that there is a place in the fuse box that is keyed power for accessories that might have been a better choice.

I installed mine on the outside of the trunk box where the honda shop installed theirs. I also talked to one of the installers at the shop and I followed his advise and hooked up the switch relay to the acc (white wire with black stripes) wire on the fuse box. You do need extra wire to do this.

I also installed one on my friends 2004 Foreman 450 this weekend and I tapped the switch relay wire to the same wire, but we traced it back to the acc outlet on the headlight assembly. We didn't have any extra wire; as we were at the deer camp. It worked and is probably in a better spot. Lessons learned.
