Default First atv Honda or Polaris?

I am 6'1 and 190lbs. I will be doing trail riding and a little exploring here in the Rockyies. I am wondering which Honda atvs stack up well against the Polaris 500 efi and 700?
I am now looking at the Honda's because they seem to be a little cheaper and have a better resell value.
thanks

I'd go for the Rincon.....but why are you limited to either Honda or Polaris??

The King Quad would be a good option as well.........EFI, 4WD and Automatic.

I recommend a 2006 Suzuki King it's probably cheaper than the Polaris 500 EFI and 700EFI, And If you want to do serious 4 wheeling in deep mud all the time don't get the Wolvy or Srambler, I think they are chain driven and they also don't have a lot of ground clearance.

Smileyboy. The correct answer is: whatever you like the most and feel comfortable with. Everyone will submit opinions (which is what you asked for) so here is mine. My personal experience only involves Hondas and Kawasaki. I currently have a Prairie 360 4X4 which I love. Great size and enough power for what I use if for. Rec riding and hunting. You can find great deals on them which helps the wallet. It is also very nimble and forgiving (as much as a ute can be) and has plenty of torque to spin out of a turn. It also has a 4x4 locker that when you pull a lever all wheels engage. It is 2x4/4x4. The only thing I really keep an eye out for is the belt. It is now starting to squeal a little in low range on a hard climb at take off. Very little but I will replace it soon. I have some experience with two Honda Ranchers. A 400 AT and a 350ES. The AT is sweet with all the options (electric shift/auto, 2x4/4x4, gps...) and a blast to ride. I don't like the ride as much over rocks and through ruts compared to my p360. It does feel more rigid. Hondas are bulletproof in my opinion though. I know some hunting club guys that used to stay far away from Polaris in the past, but that was the past. I think the Polaris issues are a thing of the past, but I have NO experience with them. Like I said, you will get MANY opinions. You asked for them though. My advice is to test ride what you are seriously considering and go from there. After all, IT IS YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY--NOT OURS.
Oh yeah, I'm 6'0 and 180 lbs

Utilities tend to be HEAVY, and even the best ones don't handle nearly as well as the worst sport bikes. Personally, I prefer the smaller/lighter machines, because I do a lot of tight woods trail rides, where a large/heavy machine would be suicidal.

Living where you do, you want a machnine that can handle though technical terrain, and EFI would be a real advantage. In my book, that leaves out the Rincon (it has no engine braking at low speed.......a fatal flaw!), and the Polaris and Arctic Cat machines are needlessly heavy. I personally prefer the Hondas, but wouldn't rule out a Suzuki or Kawasaki. I am however, not a big fan of belt drives.

Don't rush this selection! Take your time and do the necessary research.

Old wolvys are fun bikes and are shaft driven not chain driven. with stock tires they are getting 8.5 inches of ground clearance and with some 25 inch tires that pumps you up two inches. I highly reccomend against the new style wolverine definatly dont go with it. You'd probably be happiest with a suzuki King Quad i've heard great things about them. Im 6ft 190lbs I love my wolverine it will take me just about anywhere I want to go. Its not stock of course but wheres the fun in stock lol.

so only thing I can say about my Wolverine is I enjoy the 5 speed with no clutch I feel shifing is part of the experience, Its light and very nimble over obstacles. If you get it stuck its lighter to nugde out, although that doesnt happen very much. There is also plenty of aftermarket in both utility and performance because the engine is the basic same as the warrior. I have no intentions of selling mine at any time. If you are buying somthing for regular heavy hauling its not really your best choice but if you are just riding and only haul once and a while then its great. Mine is tuned for higher RPM performance as well you can make it do just about anything for you. Im talking about the Wolverine 350 4x4 not that new kodiak copy piece of crap that the crack smoking yamaha calls a wolverine 450 or the wolverine 3502x4 in their current lineup.
